Edie's Gym Open House

Edie has been taking gymnastics for almost 2 years. She loves the class and I love the gym. The classes are structured, but the gym doesn't foster competitiveness among the children. On the last day of classes there is an open house where the parents can observe inside of the gym. Here is our little gymnast:

Edie and her friend, Abby, have a tradition of sitting in the cubbies after class, and now they are joined by their siblings!

Dragon Boat Festival

Every year we attend the Dragon Boat Festival on the Charles River in Boston. For us, the highlight is watching the dragon boats race on the Charles. These boats are long racing hulls with dragon heads on the front and various teams get together to race them. Lots of the teams are from local businesses and universities, but this year we saw a team from Portland, Oregon race! They were in their 60s/70s and they seemed to be having a great time. There is also a festival with activities and performances across the river. The girls enjoyed food and music. Check out Edie's dance moves...

We have a walker!

Gemma has tormented us for weeks and weeks, watching us with a gleam in her eyes as we tried to coax her into taking a few steps without holding onto one of our hands. She has been cruising for a long time and walks everywhere with us as long as there is a finger to crush/clutch. At our weekly playdate with the Isenbergs this afternoon, I remarked to Sarah that she seemed to be letting go and ready to finally take off. And then.... not two hours later, she walked across the kitchen!! We call her Frankenwalker. If I were handy with the video camera I would post a clip, but alas, Chris is the video man. In any event, she is walking. And what happens when a little girl graduates from crawling/scootching to walking? Her mom puts her in a dress!
