August in Cotuit - Week 1

Edie and I are planning to spend most of the month of August in Cotuit, joined by Chris and Sam as much as possible. During our first week we were lucky to have many wonderful houseguests. First, Aunt Kathleen came up to stay for a couple of nights. Aunt Kathy quickly became my "country living muse" as she helped me address country living issues including: 1. Ants and Other Bugs, 2. Basement Dampness and Yucky Smell, and 3. Vacuum Cleaners That Easily Reach Cobwebs and Dead Insects in Each and Every Crevice. I hope she will be a frequent visitor because I need her wit and wisdom!

We then were joined by friends from preschool - Nina and her daughters Chloe and Maddie. Edie and Chloe will be in the same Kindergarten class this fall and always enjoying playing together. The girls had their first sleepover together, and were up until 10:15pm (gasp) giggling and telling stories to each other. We had a great time at the playground, going to the beach, and enjoyed a round of mini golf together.

At the end of the week my friend, Nan, came down for a couple of nights. We had a very relaxing couple of days, enjoying walks in Cotuit, fried clams, and drinking wine while enjoying the view. Finally, Chris was able to join us for the weekend and we had beautiful weather. Edie was really happy to see her dad and immediately wanted to take him to the beach.
